Hello
My name is Zachery Amerin Lane. I was born on August 21, 2006. I gave my mom long hours of induced labor, plus I was stuck inside her birth canal with my right arm for hours. Finally, I came out OK with help of a forcep and vacuum. My head was bruised a little bit. Doctor said to my mom that I was healthy and I can go home next day. Then, when I was 3 months old, I started to have tummy problems...I had a tummy ache and I was constipated all the time. I was so colicky. I was breathing so wheezing. I coughed a lot . I had some trouble swallowing and breathing at the same time.Then, the doctor said I had a bronchitis. He gave me a breathing treatment which I HATE it!. It didn't help me much I still felt very sick with a cold and bronchitis. Then, when we came back from Early Christmas party at Grandma house on Dec.22. I was so sick.....Then, on the morning of Dec. 23, 2006, I Stopped Breathing!!!
Doctors told my mom and my dad that I will die on Christmas Day Dec.25, 2006!.....because my head was swelling so much from lack of oxygen for sometime. They gave me a long list of diagnosis....hypoxia ischemic encephalopathy, seizure disorder, severe metabolic disorder, laryngomalacia, reflux and cortical blindness....
But, you know what...I never gave up. I am a fighter. I know my mom and my dad love me. I can't die yet...Finally, I have my life back...after 1 and half month in ICU and 2 months in rehab. I was happy that I come back home with my mom and dad, eventhough I have a trach and g-tube....
My new life has just begun...I wake up with seizure, I have a hole on my neck, I need to have a suction machine, and the oxygen monitor at all time, I am fed by tube , and I have to do a lot of exercises everyday to catch up with my developmental skills....
